Another option is using a smaller crank pulley. This also has the advantage
of slowing down your water pump, which many of us have done by increasing the
diameter of the water pump pulley. We've done just that ( increase the water
pump
pulley diameter), and changed over to a GM one-wire alternator. It's inexpensive
to replace (about $45), and you can find one in ANY hick little town in America!
Designing the bracket can be the hardest part, but you only have to do that
(right) once. It' s cheap and effective, though not strictly'vintage'
