This year's Vintage National Championship races at VDCA's Savannah event
failed to crown a champion in the D-Sports racing class despite a pair of
very quick and technically interesting entries. Paul Meis's 1969 NTM MkII
and Doug White's 1972 NTM MkIII.
Steve Norcross (the "N") and Mort Tabin (the "T") combined to form
Norcross Tabin Manufacturing. and built about 8 NTM sports racers the
MkI-IIIs all competed as D-sports racers, while the larger MKIV competed as
a B-sports racer. What makes the NTM's stand out from the average
small-bore sports racer is that they are constructed as all fiberglass
monococques. Inspired by the Chaparrals, Steve Norcross used simple glass
and resins to make a very rigid chassis. Utilizing the high revving Honda
S800 powerplant, the NTM's were nationally competitive D-sports racers in
their day. The MkII owned by Paul Meis (#31) is the same car that placed
2nd in the 1970 SCCA National Championships. The MkIII owned by Doug White
(#33) set a track record at Watkins Glen prior to the installation of the
"inner loop".

If you have a vintage D-sports racer, put VDCA's events on your calendar
for next year and compete for a Vintage National Championship!

I will attempt to attach a picture of each car. The last picture I tried
to attach to a mailing to the vintage race list was removed before the
e-mail was processed.
