The pits cannot be seen from the entrance to the track. They are on the main
straight, behind the stand of trees in the infield viewed from where you
were standing. It is a nice track; very challenging and pretty safe. If you
had contacted the SCCA DC region we might have been able to get you into the
infield to look around. Depends on who they were running the school for. If
the spooks, no chance!
