Easley Vintage Grand Prix Update:

Wednesday's vintage racecar show in front of the Indianapolis City Market
went well. The weather was perfect and we had a good selection of cars,
including: Scott Brown's Allard J2X Olds; Lowell Blossom's Kurtis; Chuck
Maranto's 1948 F3 JAP-engined car, his F2 Brabham and his F Junior Lotus;
Turner Woodard's March F2/Atlantic; Brett Johnson's very pretty Lotus XI
Sebring works car; and Treadway Racing's IRL Meijer car (I know, not exactly
a vintage racer but a very interesting addition to the mix). Of particular
note was a Stewart F1 car, from the 1998 season, compliments of the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It got a lot of attention and the contrast
between that car and the 1948 F3 car was dramatic, to say the least. We had
television coverage from channels 59 and 13 and good spectator interest.

The previous evening drivers Scott Brown and Chuck Maranto, and vintage
racecar wrench/former Indy car driver Phil Krueger, were radio guests of Don
Kay and Gary Lee. They discussed vintage racing in general and The Easley in
particular.

The weather prediction couldn't be better. Interest in the event is
building. If you haven't made up you mind to come out to IRP, there's still
time-- you won't find a better way to spend your weekend.

Practice and qualification races are Saturday, 8 am to 5 PM. Sunday, gates
open at 8 and racing begins around 10. There will be 8 races, ending at
5:30.

Circuit tours are available daily. Kids under 12 are free. And all proceeds
go to the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis. Tickets are $10 daily
at the gate, $15 for two days.

Come on out and see vintage racers compete wheel to wheel... walk through the
paddock and touch the cars...talk to the drivers and enjoy the sights, sounds
and smells of rare racecars. You won't see racing like this, or racecars
like this, in this area without buying a ticket to the IMS museum or the F1
race.

See you at the track!
