To all who knew Bob Prouty, Bob suffered a massive heart attack shortly
after leaving VIR late Sunday afternoon. We had a wonderful fall weekend and
Bob was looking forward to getting back to Wisconsin and his winter projects.
Bob is well know in the Mid-West and has been building engines for
vintage racers since the beginning of the sport. Mike Miles was one of his
earliest customers. More recently he has been doing work for George Stauffer,
Carl Jensen and Ken Quintenz. A memorial will be established in his name and
it is hoped that there will be funding enough to provide a cash award as well
as recognition to the recipients. Contributions may be sent to the SVRA
office, 257 Dekalb Industrial Way, Decatur, GA 30030, but this is not a
strictly SVRA memorial.

Robert M. Prouty, age 55, passed away on October 15th, 2000.
Loving husband to Susan, father to Robert Scott (Stephanie) and Kimberly
Sue (Mark) Benson, brother to Marianne Steiner and Richard Prouty, beloved
grandfather to Katelyn and Ryan Prouty and Christina, Julia, Caitlin, Marcie
and Patrick Benson. Bob was an accomplished racing engine specialist whose
talent was respected by all who knew him. His generosity and kindness
touched the hearts of many. Memorial services will be held at
Wisconsin Memorial Park

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated towards the Bob Prouty
Memorial Mechanics Award, which will be presented at the Road America Vintage
Race, or to the American Heart Association.
