i neglected to mention that i own david roethel's white #1 1959 bugeye
sprite which ran at marlboro. it is restored to it's 1962 colors and
markings per a photograph from the front cover of the d.c. region scca
newsletter "the straight pipe" nov. 1962 issue depicting david and ex wife
susan sitting in the car after a win at marlboro holding the checkered flag.
unfortunatly i can not race the car with the original "d.c. region period
legal " single hoop (and very low) rollbar. i have resisted temptation to
remove it in the interest of retaining the car's original identity.
although a recent offer of a vintage legal bolt in type bar has raised some
interest in possibly taking it out to play? if the bar is high enough !
