OK,  you started it.  Here's my 2 cents worth....I believe it is acceptable in
the interests of practicality.  After losing 3, hard to replace, and getting
more expensive each time, windshields in the Cortina, from stones thrown up by
other cars on the track, I opted to go to LEXAN, simply because I couldn't
afford to keep replacing windscreens, IF I could continue finding them (ok, I
know...too many commas in this sentence....).  Technically, its not within the
rules of some groups.  Yes, it is a performance enhancement as its
substantially lighter than glass......so shoot me.  Personally, I have no
problems with any other cars I race against having a LEXAN or equivalent
windshield or windows.

The only reasonable alternative I see is some sort of guarantee from each
track operator that their courses will be free of loose stones and pebbles
which can break increasingly rare glass parts, but that is unrealistic.  I
have another NOS glass windshield stashed away, but I don't plan on running
it.
