Personally, I like to race nude except for a nice thick layer of
volatile
petroleum jelly. I know, I know, one good spark and I'm a human torch but
it's just so nice and relaxing like a good mud bath.

Seriously though, what's the deal with socks? I think they're the only
item
in the driver's ensemble that is not uncomfortable. I also support the use
of a full face helmet even in a closed vehicle. I was at Savannah this
spring when Tom Cotter blew a motor (in his Morris Minor) and left a complete
connecting rod laying on the front straight. If that or any other sizable
part came at my windshield, I want to have as much protection as I can get.
I have also started wearing a 'horse collar' this year. I have seen too
many drivers slumped over in the seat and out cold after relatively minor
incidents because their head was violently whipped on impact. The collar is
cheap, easy to use and I don't notice it at all when I'm driving.

In closing, I will go on record to say that the rumors concerning Team
Escarg
ot vehicles having augmented propulsion systems related to the top secret
human powered car experiments using sushi and sapporo beer are entirely
unfounded. The only gas in our vintage vehicles is 93 octane pump gas.
