Hey, I *love* racing in the rain.
My sprite is a "2nd group" car, i.e. it is not an outright
contender. Lots of reasons including suspension and big horsepower
difference (> 70kW at rear wheels c.f. 52kW at rear wheels) and tyres.
In last years race season I was pretty much the first of the second
group, but lap times of the 2nd group were 6% or 7% off pole and the
first 4 or 5 cars in the field.
In wet races, guys I'm normally dicing with are 5 secs/lap behind me
and I am much closer to the front pack, in front of some of them even.
(Phillip Island, where wet sprite times are about 2:10 and up)
To get that sort of performance I'd have to spend big $$$$, so it can
rain anytime!!
