Hi all;

Since I am completely re-wireing my 1970 Vixen (1600 GT Motor) I want to
replace the alternator with a more modern higher output unit.
Originaly it had a generator, which I later replaced with a Triumph single
wire alternator ( 30 amp output)
I just recieved a new alternator ( GM single wire that puts out 60 amps at
idle, a tad overkill) but the problem is that it is too big and won't fit in
the original location, it interferes with the steering column.

Does any one have any suggestions as to what I could use, or do I have to go
back to the smaller Triumph unit.?

On the subject of Bonnet hinging is a "Rose Joint" the British equivalent of
the US "Rod End ". A bearing mounted on the end of a threaded shaft.? I have
that setup, it works very well but I find that I have to replace the joint
every few years because the vibration really loosens up the joint. The ones
I use were too small to have grease fittings.
