Before I start the story, let me take full responsibility for my own stupid=

Having bought a TR3 with a body which was beyond salvage, I have been looki=
ng for, and was prepared to pay good money for, a decent tub.=C2=A0 I recen=
tly saw one on eBay which was advertised as being =E2=80=9Cin good conditio=
n=E2=80=9D.=C2=A0 It was fairly expensive, so I emailed the seller twice an=
d asked specifically about the extent of the rust:=C2=A0 he replied by assu=
ring me the car was =E2=80=9Cin great condition=E2=80=9D with =E2=80=9Cmini=
mal rust=E2=80=9D.=C2=A0 I asked for additional pics, but he said it was di=
fficult as the car was at a different location.

After I bid and won, the seller emailed me to say I had to pick the car up =
within 24 hours as he had a family commitment and would be gone for a week.=
=C2=A0 The car was several hours away and I explained I couldn=E2=80=99t ma=
ke it.=C2=A0 He said OK, but he wanted the money immediately.=C2=A0 I calle=
d PayPal and they said I would lose any protection if I paid before seeing =
the car.=C2=A0 So I called eBay and they reassured me I was covered 100% by=
the eBay vehicle protection plan (VPP).=C2=A0 So I paid.=C2=A0 My mistake.

A week later I drove out and found a car with rust holes big enough to put =
my hand through and a passenger side with so much collision damage I doubt=
=C2=A0 it could ever be restored.=C2=A0 Oh, and the frame was bent.=C2=A0 I=
told him I wasn=E2=80=99t going to take the car, he had misrepresented it,=
and I wanted my money back.=C2=A0 He told me tough, you paid already, it=
=E2=80=99s yours.
=C2=A0
I came home and called eBay only to be told the VPP only applies to cars le=
ss than 10 years old and that I had no recourse other than to sue the selle=
r.=C2=A0 After several sleepless nights I decided I could do without the st=
ress of litigation and so I drove back out to collect the car.=C2=A0 When I=
got there the seller told me he had sold it to someone else.=C2=A0 Great, =
I said, give me my money.=C2=A0 Nah, he said, you take it and I=E2=80=99ll =
deal with the other guy.=C2=A0 The seller had brought a few buddies over, a=
nd so I simply loaded the car up and drove home.

Bottom line =E2=80=93 I salvaged one replacement panel and 2 fenders, one o=
f which is fiberglass.=C2=A0 The car is being collected this week for a tri=
p to the scrapyard.

It was my fault and I accept responsibility for it.=C2=A0 Thankfully, my lo=
vely wife has not given me grief and as a Christian I forgive the guy.=C2=
=A0 But I did leave negative feedback on eBay.=C2=A0 The EXACT words were =
=E2=80=9CTotal misrepresentation of the car.=C2=A0 Buyers beware=E2=80=9D.=
=C2=A0 It never posted.=C2=A0 I called eBay today and was told the seller h=
ad appealed my feedback as it was =E2=80=9Cpejorative and threatened the fu=
ture success of his business=E2=80=9D.=C2=A0 As a result eBay had the right=
to remove it =E2=80=93 and they did.=C2=A0 And they will not let me leave =
any negative feedback.

I still love the Triumph community, but I am a little more cynical about ma=
nkind (which is a shame) and I am disgusted with eBay.=C2=A0 I guess I am v=
enting, but if anyone has a good TR3 tub=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6
