Jonas,
I have 2 Stag engines and one 4sp non-OD gearbox sitting in my garage at the
moment. Online estimates of 450 pounds for the engine is likely spot on. I
didn't weigh it, but I had the full engine with all the accessories still
bolted on AND the 4sp gearbox attached sitting on a wooden box on casters,
each caster good for 150 pounds and no groaning came from it. The gearbox is
heftable by yours truly, and I'd estimate it to be around 75 to 80 pounds. I
shipped a TR4 OD gearbox last summer and it weighed in at 90 pounds. Hope
this helps.
Brian

Subject: [TR] Weight of Stag Engine/Trans
I have a '71 Stag in the shop undergoing an engine transplant.
The car was originally equipped with the 3L V8 and the Borg Warner Autobox.
It also had A/C. These components are long gone.
Its getting a 2.3L Turbo from a 1987 Ford Thunderbird with a Borg Warner T5
"world class" manual, which I can weigh here.
I am trying to figure out what the original motor and trans weighed so we
can sort out the new coil springs for the front end. The new setup is
clearly lighter based on the stance of the car.
If anybody has these weights, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jonas Payne
