Or even some of the felt and foil insulation sold for water heaters should
do, if you put it on the carb side of the metal shield.

A second layer of metal, spaced 1/4" - 1/2" away from the first can also
make a big difference.

My plan is to rig the radiator fan so it runs until the underhood
temperature drops.  But it helps noticeably to just run it for a minute or
so before shutting the engine down.
