Similar thing happened to a friend of mine here a couple of years ago but
with a different twist. A guy passed away while driving along a major
divided highway, his car went down through the median, came up and hit my
friend head on who happed to be driving his beautifully restored Jag XKE.
Totaled the Jag and messed up my friend bad. The kicker was that there is
some kind of insurance legal clause that because the poor fellow passed away
he had no control of the car and both insurance companies pointed to some
unavoidable situation BS clause and said sucks to be you we are not liable
to pay you any money for this accident. He ended up recouping some of his
cost with a fight.
