You mean those cutting-edge Britsh designers like Giovanni Michelotti? ;)
It's a testament to what a great job the Miata designers did in evoking a
certain bygone era with a modern car. Many Alfa enthusiast claim the Miata as
their own by pointing to a Guiletta spider protoype by Bertone (and not w/o
some
justification). I personally don't think they were doing a knock-off of any
particular car, just a certain style.
