Strange as it seems, I have been contemplating getting a modern
car. Now, before the flamers cry blasphemy, I wish to point out that
I have a new job that is unbelievably cool and the car hobby has to
take a back seat for awhile. By an act of providence, I have become
Data Acquisition Systems & Telemetry engineer for Burt Rutan at
Scaled Composites in Mojave. You know, the guy that launched the
first privately funded manned spaceflight. When I should be thinking
about British cars I find myself thinking about work instead. What a
pervert I have become.
Anyway, I have noticed that some cars that I have never
considered before are starting to look better and get into my
affordability range. Specifically the Mercedes 230SLK, the Jaguar
XK8, the Porsche Boxster & Acura NSX. I have been hoping that the
Lotus Elise prices would begin dropping, but that is not the case
yet. Some of the Aston Martin DB7's are getting lower, but not low
enough yet.
Anyone else on the list having the same mental tug of war?
