While I agree that an owner should be able to do whatever they want with their
car (including dousing it with gasoline and lighting it on fire if they wish),
I would caution anyone to be fully aware of the impact their choices will have
on the value of the car. A paint refinish is, for all practical purposes, a
permanent change. It *could* be undone, but it is rarely economically feasible
and will be VERY costly to undo a color change.

Folks that change their paint color from original are certainly free to do
so, but they need to be aware that if and when they go to sell the car (I know,
I know, they are never going to sell the car...), they will eliminate many
potential buyers and reduce the value. I personally would never consider
buying a collectible car that has had a color change (unless I was buying it
for track use, total restoration, or parts). That's just me. Others may not
care. But that's one of the first elimination criteria I use when I'm
searching for a car. Not original color? Delete and move on to the next one.
:-)

  Again, that's just me....

....I wouldn't worry about the effect of color choice on originality - only
exception being if you did want to enter concourse competition of
course, which you're not worried about. Like I said, it's your car....
