My best friend owns a Miata, which I've driven and (more often) ridden in.
My biggest objection is that huge bar above the windshield, traffic lights
just disappear from view for me.
Second objection is the relative lack of torque (even with the Moss
supercharger), combined with 'tall' gears. If you actually want to pass
someone, you'd better grab a gear. On second thought, make that two gears !
Beyond that, it's a nice little car. What it lacks in character, it more
than makes up for in reliability. In 12 years, I think it's only had two
unscheduled visits to the shop, and one of those was for a wheel that broke
when he hit a curb. The other was for leaking clutch hydraulics ...
And FWIW, my friend hates having the top up almost as much as I do. He only
has it up while it's actually raining, or the car is parked outdoors and
rain is likely.
