Can't find it at the moment, but ISTR reading somewhere in the factory
literature that more than 1 pint in 250 miles is considered excessive. That
was probably an Imperial pint ...

Actually, that factory figure was somewhat more pessimistic. Under General
Data, Section A, p. 3 of the Service Instruction Manual, oil consumption is
given as "3,000 m.p.g. (1,000 km per litre.)"
