Nothing is wrong with them and it's not the reason that I asked the question, 
something doesn't need to be wrong to suggest an alternative! Plastic is an 
excellent alternative to the steel and chrome plated ones we all have had to 
replace due to rust issues. Plastic may be less expensive. However in the 
volumes we see that may not be an incentive. This may be the reason we don't 
have them. I just think it's an alternative to SS and seem to remember seeing 
them used on newer applications.
