Hi,
I have my TR3's body up on rotisserie. One of the few rusty areas is up on
the inner rear bottom panel (an area normally only visable when the car is
raised up on a service rack). I reckon the reason for the rust in this area
is that neither this panel nor the outer rear bottom panel is seamless where
they meet at the very bottom. (In fact, 3 factory 'plastic plugs' are on
this panel for ventilation? drainage? I have wondered if I should close
off these drain plugs.
I am wanting to weld over these 'seams' so that they will not collect
water.
2. I am considering extending a 2 foot piece of metal from the bottom
side of the spare tire compartment back to the area where these seams
exist. This piece of metal would need to be as wide as the car is and would
keep any water out of this area, hopefully!
I believe that this panel is No. 34 in Moss's diagram shown at:
http://mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29155&SortOrder=58
Should I weld over these seams?
Cover this L-shaped area that collects dirt and water and welding in a flat
piece of metal in order to try and keep it dry?
Are these things proable?
Thanks, Paul Dorsey 60 TR3A
