The Coopers Sportmaster GLTs are very good tires and they'll do the
job more than adequately. However, I think, and other tire guys I
know who sell Coopers to whom I have shown Vredesteins think the Vreds
are better tires. Both the Sprint +s or the Sprint Classics are
beautifully made sturdy tires, and you can get either in 165s or 185s.
Bottom line, this Dutch firm is committed to making really good tires
for our cars.
I called Vredestein's corporate hq 4 weeks back to find a more local
dealer to central PA and they hooked me up with a shop out of Halifax,
PA that sold me the Sprint +s for $68 each. 5 tires/tubes around
$405, very good deal, and a great dealer who will replace any faulty
tire on the drop of a hat.
The Coopers can be had for $50-$55, but for such a marginal difference
in price/quality, I would get the Vredesteins.
Hope that helps.
Ted
P.S. Go through your local mechanic, british or otherwise, and you
can get them a little cheaper still.
For people is the central Pennsylvania area needing good tires for
your LBC, give Phil @ Pattton Tire a call @ (717) 896-3500, and no I
am getting no commission, just trying to help fellow LBC enthusiasts.
