i have been working at a small crack in the hood IM renovating for my TR3. it
is right on the pressing that runs the length of the hood. its the full
height of the pressing, about 3/8" (10 mm) high, but barely 10 thousandths of
an
inch wide. i have attempted to weld it many times, including opening the crack
to hole and welding in new metal. the problem is that the metal is very thin
here, being right on the pressing.
has any one ever tried using modern solder for small cracks like this? have
you been successful?
is old fashioned real lead still available any place? called a couple of body
shops and they say no.
do you think new modern solder will work?
thanks
