Jim,
I have the TR4A intake manifold and HS6 SU's in my TR3A. The only interference
issues I had were that the bulkhead heater nipple on the right hand side would
not clear the aft carb fuel bowl. I could have chosen an alternate location
for a bulkhead penetration, but for now elected to forego the heater. (heaters
are for girls)
There was no interference with the innter wing. It might be an issue with
stock air filters; I just don't know.
I also have the TR4A exhaust manifold and double down pipes, that I decided to
go with instaed of my headers.
I've attached a pic that, hopefully will make it to your home email (I
understand that the list drops attachments).
Good luck, and have fun!
thanks,

Greetings,
Friday saw my 3a off to a local bodyshop where it will no doubt languish
for what will seem an eternity. I just finally had to bite the bullet and
get someone else working on it. Got the car in March ''97 so it's high
time, and my expectation is that it will motivate me to charge ahead
through the summer with the probably vane hope that it will be self
propelled before the snow flies in fall '05.
On to the topic at hand. I want to have the rf inner fender prepared such
that I can install HS6 carbs should the need arise. I have a TR4A engine
complete with ancillaries so this is a real possibility - intake, carbs,
header, downpipe, etc could all see the 3A engine bay a some point. My body
man wants active participation from the owner and he's going to get it so
this will be the first thing.
So - how much extra space is really required in the inner fender to
accommodate the HS6s? If anyone has done this and could provide a few
measurements it would be very helpful - a picture would be ideal. (Slightly
awkward for me here is that the engine is not in the car so I don't even
know exactly where the front edge of the air filter is closest to the fender.)
All help appreciated,
TIA,
JIm
