Resistance across coil terminals with all wires off -
3.5 ohms. It's a Bosch coil (aprox. 20 years old).

Does anything sound out of sorts hear?

Other than the fact that you have a 12 volt coil in a ballasted system,
all seams fine.

What I mean by that is the typical resistance of a coil used without a
ballast resistor is 3.5 ohms and the 8 volt reading indicates that you do
have a ballast resistor system. The car should run fine under normal
circumstances, however.
