Another possible solution is to run the wire on the outside, held down by
chrome tape. I added an illuminated flaming shifter ball to our PT Cruiser
and this is how their kit is designed. On the auto trans shaft, the wire
faces forward and is almost imperceptible. 3 years later we have not had
any problems with the tape coming off or the wires coming loose. Of course,
an auto shifter does not see the same amount of action as a manual shifter.
