Hi all,

I recently installed a new distributor on my 3a, and adjusted the timing so
it was running fine. I then installed a pertronix igniter kit, and while it
fired up first time, the engine was pinging like crazy under load. I ended
up retarding (turning the distributor anti clockwise) about 20 degrees to
stop the pinging.

Is this normal? I am thinking that the position of the original contact
breaker points and the new sensor are not quite the same. I know the
instructions mention a slight timing adjustment, but I was a bit surprised
at the amount of distributor rotation required.. The car seems to be
running fine.anyone experienced this?

Cheers,

Chris
