Well Tim, what you have stumbled on is the very first Michelotti work he did
for triumph. The part you see in the picture is inverted and missing its
carrier. It was in fact designed to be used upside down, and the carrier helped
it
hang off the rail of your apartments balcony. Michelotti was unknown for his
great prowess of growing tomatoes. the "cap" you see is in fact a high tech
drainage system that stops soil loss during watering. The use of aluminum
alloys
was a new and exotic material in horticulture at the time and was adapted by
all other later great tomato growers.
Oh yes and as for you Greg Hutmacher, get some counseling! You know the BMW
is not even British don't you?
