You know what Joe - I saw your article in Grass Roots motor sports. We
talked about that engine - I remember it now. Have you got it running
without the smog stuff yet? Do you have any stats on it like weight,
width,
length, etc.

Yes, I fabricated a black box that connects to the ECU and fakes it into
thinking that there is a catalytic converter. Works pretty well.
I don't know how much it weighs because I never had it off the 6 speed
gearbox, but I am pretty sure that the engine and gearbox together
doesn't weigh a whole lot more than the Spit engine and gearbox. That
is because of a massive amount of aluminum parts. The engine is taller
owing to the atwin overhead cams and the upper part is wider because of
the cross flow design of the head.
The 6 speed box is very long and the way I mounted the engine/tranny, I
had to move the seat way back in order to make it easy to shift. But
that just moved a lot of weight toward the rear and that's a "Good
Thing"!
All in all, I would think that installing this engine in a TR would be
much easier than any V8 because the engine would be narrower and cause
less interference with steering and other components. Plus, you only
have to deal with one header!
Cheers,
Joe
