I've harped on this before ... here it is again.  Paper element fuel filters
can close up and still look perfectly new.  All it takes is a bit of
condensation in the gasoline.  And with their fuel tanks vented to outside
air, TR2-4 are very apt to develop condensation in the tank.  The stock fuel
system handles this quite well (the sediment bowl traps any moisture), so
the problem only arises when people start trying to "improve" the original
system.

Paper element fuel filters really only became practical after fuel tanks
were no longer vented directly to outside air ... or after a water trap (aka
sediment bowl).
