Two items to further the discussion:
My understanding, at least during the TR4/4A/250 era is that factory
changeovers for the new model year occurred in August. The last 1967 TR4A
was built in August 1967. The first '1968' TR250 was made in August 1967.
Also, there are 1965 TR4's made between August 1965 and December 1965. The
1965 TR4A commenced production in January of 1965. My CTC 50497L was
produced on January 27, 1965. No 1965 TR4's were actually manufactured in
1965.
On a side note...my original VIN # for the car (originally titled in
California) was STC65CTC50497L. I thought based on the Manufactures plate
sometimes placed on the right scuttle. I found one of these plates - that
have only 'Standard-Triumph' and 'STC 65' stamped on it. I installed it
before moving the car from Washington back to California. Of course, the CHP
inspectors ignored the STC65 plate and titled the car with the original
commission number only...go figure...
Cheers,
Brad
