TR3 is still positive ground and will remain so for the simple reason that one of the main appeals of that car is the anachronistic nature of it. That not only includes the reversed polarity but the push button starter, the lack of outside door handles, the hand crank, the side curtains and all the other inconveniences that were forsaken on the much more modern TR6 and TR8 that serve as more serious drivers in my fleet. I have installed a switchable polarity radio (set to positive ground, of course) for purely sentimental reasons since it is a radio I purchased new in 1971 from JC Whitney. I still have the box and the receipt so I guess I could return it if it doesn't work but it is mostly useless since I can't hear it over the road noise. And it is AM only. It all fits with the carriage key latches on the boot lid. Dave Massey 57 TR3 (OK, one consession to modernity - it has (factory) disc brakes) |
