List, I am close to having all of the bits and pieces collected to add a
Surrey Top to my TR4A. I'm looking for some collective advise from the list.
Questions are:
>From Donor Car.
1. When removing the Back Window Frame from the donor car are there any
problem areas to look out for? My guess is that it's been installed for
several years (1964 Donor) and maybe since new.
2. Will the threaded nuts be in place on the donor car for the replacement of
the Surrey with a soft top set of hood sticks? I believe it takes 2, 1/4 inch
screws on each side.
3. I've assembled all of the aluminum trim and interior panels that I need
thanks in no small part to the generous help from this list. Are the holes
drilled for the 16 pegs that attach the hood and trim or will they need to be
drilled at assembly?
Installation to TR4A.
1. Are all of the body fasteners in place? Particularly the threaded stud
holes for the 2 studs nearest the doors? Do I need to drill out the threaded
plugs where the current soft top rear plate is bolted or will the window studs
line up and go through the threaded plugs?
2. For the Soft Top (Surrey) I have located the rear attachment hardware and
it appears to be a "retainer" of some sort and some wing nuts. Do I need to
pierce a hole in the new soft top where this retainer and the thumb screws
attach?
3. What other "things" do I need to look out for when completing the
conversion from those of you who have been there and done that before me.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
