Oh Dear David
That idea will not do I'm afraid. If you preceeded down that route the
electrical tape would come off quicker than you could say " Isn't it hot
today, Darling ".
If you look at the originals the gold wraparound was actually part of the
hose and the hose was finished in a "bandage type" effect. Unlike a certain
TR250 that figures prominently in a TR book these hoses were never shiny,
always having a matt finish that complimented the earlier mentioned bandage
effect. I know what I am talking about here as I have a new set of main
radiator hoses (3) and have just sold another couple on Ebay---all the same
matt finish.
These black and gold hoses were in fact fitted to the 1969 TR6 PI as well as
the TR250 and looked really stunning. So in answer to your question about
remanufacture then all I will say is that whoever does these has to get them
right and not just slap em together with a hope and a prayer and try to sell
them as original quality. Far too much repro stuff nowadays bears no relation
to the factory original quality--we dont want any more "make do's".
Give us the quality and we will pay--Oh Yeah !
