Insist that they tell you what they put in it, without letting them see the
owner's manual again.

My Haynes says SAE 75 gear oil, which is noticeably thinner than the SAE 90
oil I'll bet they put in.

75 weight gear oil is about the same as 10 weight motor oil; 90 weight
covers the 40-50 range.
