Dear Listers,
I was at my brother's garage today looking at his 1968 MGB ( chrome bumper,
BTW) in it's state of renewal. I must say he's done a marvelous job of
rebuilding, however the color scheme is hideous. BRG body, black engine
compartment, red engine and oil pan, and the most outrageous yellow valve
cover and fan blades. He shared with me a couple of odd things. One, he
had taken out the PDWA and cleaned it up. Looks a lot like the one in my
TR6. He tried to tell me that Moss wants $400. for a new one. Hunhh?? Is
he goofy or what? He's looking for a new distributor- I'm not sure why,
except that the DPO had turned the distributor about 180 out and had
switched the plug wires in an effort to get the car to run smoothly. The
car had always desieled upon shut-off. He's running a single
Weber carb. I don't have much truck with him, he likes to do his own
thing, but I have explained to him on many occasions when he complains
about poor running and that he thinks that it might be carbueration, that
it's probably 95% electrical- to quote "FT" . Turns out I was right, but
what do I know about MG's? My own brother- an MG nut- there's just no
substitute for good taste.
Die Hard TR guy,
Jeff Johnson
