List,

Not that I would ever dream of doing this today but Fred's last post on the
snow storm yesterday here in the northeast got me to thinkin'......many moons
(geez, like over 30 years ago - that's a lot of moons) when I used my
faithful '58 TR3A to commute daily to college, I fitted a set of Firestone
Town & Country snow tires with studs to the rear wire wheels. With a couple
of cinder blocks in the boot, it ran pretty well in the snow as long as the
snow didn't get too much deeper than the ground clearance. Heck, with my
overdrive, I seemed to have unlimited gear choice combinations to get
launched from a snowy stop.....of course back in those days, (other than
jeeps and full size 4wd trucks), the VW bug and Corvairs were champions of
the snow......
