Now that winter has set in, I want to trouble shoot a few of the minor
problems that I am experiencing. The rebuilt engine on my TR3A runs great,
plenty of power, good low end grunt and nice pick up. I have rebuilt and
re-bushed the carbs and used a vacuum balancer to synchronize them.
The problem that I am experiencing is that when I quickly come off the RPMs,
my idle drops a couple of hundred RPMs below the normal idle RPM. Sometimes
the engine recovers and comes back up to idle without stalling but other
times it just stalls. The same thing happens when I quickly snap the
throttle. I've tried 10, 20, and 30 weight oil in the dashpots and it
doesn't seem to make any difference.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to what may be the problem.
Thanks in advance for any input.
