If you think the distributor is giving you trouble, you might try
plugging the vacuum line and set the dist to the static timing setting.
If you have a single vacuum unit, I believe it is a vacuum retard unit
which is just an emissions thing and should give you a baseline.
Another idea is to manually put a vacuum on the retard unit hose and
watch the timing mark move while the engine is idling and the vacuum
port on the manifold is plugged (the engine may actually stall). Also,
you might look at the screws holding down the condenser and points
inside of the distributor. I have seen instances where someone put in
screws that were a little too long, which prevented the breaker plate
from advancing or retarding. Finally, with the vac unit plugged, you
can use the timing light to watch the mark move as you blip the
throttle, thereby indicating the centrifugal advance mechanism is
working.

I have inspected the Advance weights, they seem to be working fine,
cleaned everything up. Put it back together, and it still doesn't work.

I set the Static timing, so the Idle is fine, but when I give it any
gas,
The spark is too late, it can't rev, and starts backfiring. Im almost
positive it is the Advance, but I could be wrong. I know it is the
Timing/distributor, because that is the only think I changed.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
