Just to offer the voice of dissent (again), he said the difference was only
the thickness of a few sheets of paper.  That's trivial compared to the
travel of the pressure plate, and the wear thickness of the friction plate.

Absolute worst case would be maybe a 5% reduction in friction plate life.  I
doubt even that will happen.  The initial spring tension would only be
reduced to what would be normal with friction plate wear of .010" or so (the
few sheets of paper).

Who knows, the reduced pressure might even help the thrust washers live
longer <g>
