How many of these "personal" salesman are actually using the system to sell
retail goods for a company? It's not surprising that the prices go up. Many
probably bid up their own goods until potential customers get sucked in.
That's certainly an old auction trick. It's even easier on the net.

As a buyer on eBay, I agree with you Greg. When a "new" item gets to within

60 - 70% of the price new, I go with a trusted retailer. As a seller, I am
baffled sometimes. I sold some new and used MGB parts that climbed past
new,
and I wondered what was up. Of course, there were also some clinkers that I

thought would bring more, but I was glad to get rid of them for a small
return on my investment. It all depends on who is out there at the moment
and how much they need what you have that week.

I have tried to buy TR6 carpet several times on eBay and it always goes
beyond what I am willing to. I bid up to around $110 and let it go after
that...and I still need some carpet, so you know the end result.
