I don't have any experience with EFI for a TR6, but I have been curious
about it. I checked out the web site that someone posted to the list a
day or two ago that sells EFI systems for converting carbureted cars to
EFI (www.sdsefi.com). My thought was, wouldn't it be best to find a
complete original TR6 PI system, install the PI intake manifold and
linkage and air box, but then throw away the old PI metering system and
instead install one these new EFI conversions to the old TR6 PI system.
That way it has the looks of the original PI system (minus the metering
unit) but the advantages of modern electronic fuel injection. Does anyone
on the list have any thoughts or experience with this concept? Any
drawbacks to this idea?
Thanks, Greg

Greg,
Triumph World Magazine #27 August 99 had a very extensive
report about a TR5 converted to EFI .I have seen the car on the TR
Register International in U.K.
The engine bay looks like a normal TR5 engine bay as the
manifolds and throttle bodies plus the airbox have been retained.
The throttle barrels had to be enlarged to accept Bosch electronic
injectors and also had to receive a new longer spindle to
accomodate the throttle sensor. The ECU , wiring loom and fuel rail
were custom made by Wilcox Competition Engines. The alternator
has of cause to be upgrades to around 65AH.
As I said in my previous mail the ECU mapping is the most
delicate exercise.
