The registration number as I pointed out is from 1969/70 (the registration letters changed in August in those days and stayed with the car permanently whilst in UK) the car need not have been new to have a new registration number issued to it only new to UK. There is no dispute as to the year of origin. It was common practise to import older used cars from Ireland, have new UK registrations attached and sell them for a higher than market value. A lot of snobbery is evident in UK about the reg letter of your car. This has nothing to do with the TR3B but if the car was brought to UK for use here it would have had to be registered. This is a possibility, there were many US servicemen stationed over here at that time. As for vanity plates I can supply as many as you want. They do not mean anything and could not be used in UK but would look nice if your State allowed such things. In Mr Piggots book there is a TR4 with US plate on the back and a UK plate on the front! I assume this is from a one plate State.
