Having troubles getting the brake cylinder off an early Lockheed system.
Seems the banjo bolt that screws into the rear is buggered up by the
previous owner. Any ideas on getting it off? (It seems like 15mm - or is
it Whitworth or something?)
The brakes are on our '54 Swallow Doretti, which used early TR running gear.
The wheel cylinders are of the Lockheed variety, which involves a banjo
bolt which holds the whole assembly to the backing plate as well as a
combination input pipe and bleeding nipple. If I had room, I might
carefully file the flats down a little to some other convenient size - might
have to do that anyway! It uses non-steel wheel hub - the splines for the
wire wheels mount right to the axel, so I suppose one solution would be to
remove the hub (castle nut deep inside the splines) and see if I can get the
backing plate off to make working on it a lot more convenient.
What size is the banjo bolt supposed to be, and any suggestions on breaking
it free?
