This reminds me (run again or further) when I was installing engines and
such in a northwest boat manufacturing plant. One of the last things to be
done after the engine was installed was to install the battery and tighten
the clamps. Of course the battery cables were already on as the electricals
had to be checked out prior to bolting the battery down, for some obscure
reason. Well, there I was, with a 1/2" wrench tightening the bolts on the
hold-down bracket. Did I mention that the battery was as far astern as you
could get and still be in the boat? As the aft shelf of the body did not
extend as far as the battery, I was bent over in this very cramped area,
tightening the nuts on the bracket, when, (wait for it) I dropped the
wrench, which of course was just long enough to span the distance between
the battery terminals. As the sparks were flying and I was doing my best to
extract myself from the immediate area, I observed that a Snap-on 1/2"
combination could turn cherry red so fast and not even mar the chrome
plating. It did have a couple spots that were crispy fried, the rest was
impeccable. Ah, the good old days.
Thanks for bringing back old memories,
