Hmm, I have in my possession a A-type overdrive gearbox with the following
numbers...
Gearbox Casing: D28 A 71
Overdrive Tag: 22 / 1374 / 009572
I can find no reference to such a gearbox number, but the OD unit seems to
date the gearbox to the early 1960s. Can anyone confirm (lacking Bill
Piggots early TR book), and also what is with the odd gearbox number? Note:
there is no trace of a 'C' (or any other letter for that matter) stamped
before the D28, D28 is a clean well embossed stamp.
