Aren't there suppose to be three?
when you pull the bellhousing and gasket,
aren't there three little springs in recesses
that press on the layshaft .
MINE WEREN"T THERE as I just now pulled
my O/D tranny apart to look at the synchros.

QUESTION....
Could this (absent springs) have led to the
early demise of the 3rd/4th and 2nd/3rd gear
synchros?

Only one syncho has 'triangular teeth. The other is
showing signs of leading/trailing edge wear.
