Congratulations on your purchase Ike, I wish you the very best of luck with 
your restoration and with driving your TR; or as Triumph themselves would 
say- "welcome to the power elite" ;-)

IMHO if you are going to restore the car be as thorough as you can afford to 
be with the mechanical examination. This will give you a good idea on what 
to budget for in the resto, i.e. minimise expensive surprises later on.

This will also give you a great chance to find a trusted mechanic in your 
area. Have a long chat to all the mechanics in your area and try to see if 
they know what they are talking about when it comes to Triumphs. If you have 
a Triumph/British car specialist in your area it may be a good idea to use 
them.
