Well, after quite a bit of digging I had a perfect dashboard for my little
Triumph Herald. The Vinyl was perfect, and I did a reasonable job of
refinishing the wood.
Was is now, the operative word. I had stored the assembled and ready dash for
sometime in one place, but had to recently move it to another. All went well
until a small item leapt off a shelf, and rebounded off the top of the dash.
It looked fine until the next morning, when I noticed a wonderful rip in the
shape of a starfish in the (almost) center of the tensioned upper surface. My
options are: 1. Entirely disassemble the dash, carefully remove all four
hundred thousand tiny staples holding the vinyl on, (maybe not that many- but
seems like it!) and repair the area first with duct tape, or a patch from
below, then vinyl repair patch stuff(with the little heater) on top. 2: I have
no idea
Any thoughts before I slash my wrists in frustration?(Don't worry- I use a
safety razor, so all I'd do would make little itchy marks- but it would feel
better!)
