I think more research is needed.  I can vouch for the fact that the
throttles on the SU's on my TR3 rotate in the opposite direction as do the
throttles on the CD175's on my TR6.

I guess the main point is that the vacuum advance port may be on either the
top or the bottom of the carburettor depending on the direction of the
throttle rotation.

Remember the definition of "ass/u/me."
